The number of students in Moroccan higher education institutions has been steadily increasing over the last decade. The public sector absorbs the majority of students, yet a growing private sector is in perspective. The share of female students approaches 50%, however, women remain under-represented among teaching staff. Morocco is hosting a considerable number of international students, most of whom come from the African continent.
