Tunis, 8 December 2018: A group of university students from Jordan, Iraq, and Lebanon joined their peers from Tunisia to commemorate the International Anti-Corruption Day in a regional event jointly organized by UNDP-ACIAC, INLUCC and the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research.
Through interactive seminars, trainings, and game-based workshops and direct dialogue with politicians, activists and experts, participating youth were given the opportunity to express how corruption affects their lives and explore mechanisms to fight it. Participants also took part in a competition to design concrete solutions and propose action plans that they can undertake themselves to combat the scourge of corruption in their societies.
Youths’ mobilization in this event comes in the context of the “Universities Against Corruption” flagship initiative, which was launched in 2016 by the UNDP’s Anti-Corruption and Integrity in Arab Countries (ACIAC) regional project. Since its inception, the initiative galvanized a network of 23 universities and over 2000 university students from the four above-mentioned countries.
